Worship

We are an Anglo-Catholic parish church: traditional yet relevant to current human experience; reverent but not stuffy; appreciative of mystery, and also clear about God’s love for all people.  The liturgy (the words and actions that have been handed down to us by the Church over its history) is important to us; it holds and sustains us in its beauty and familiarity and is not dependent upon the mood or personality of the Priest or those who participate.  Our Parish Mass (Eucharist or Holy Communion) takes place at 10am each Sunday, where we worship in Word and Sacrament.

Listening to the needs and desires of our community, we will be increasing the opportunities for worship at St Philip’s, particularly focusing on developing our worship through music, and our ministry to children and young adults.  Please get in touch if you have ideas to share.  We’d love to hear from you.

You are very welcome to all our services. If you’re new, do introduce yourself. If you don’t understand something, just ask.

Mass

The Eucharist is at the heart of our worship here at St Philip’s. Our main service together is our 10:00 am Parish Mass on Sundays. This is our chance to come together as a community to learn, worship, and connect with each other.

We also have a midweek said Mass on Thursdays at 10:00 am. This is a quiet service where you might find some necessary mid-week peace.

Prayer

Daily prayer is a key part of our community worship and sustains all that we do. We say Morning Prayer together in Church on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 9:30 am. The service sheet can be found here. We encourage people to pray in the community throughout the week. The Church of England has a daily podcast and prayer app so you can join in at home.

Our chapel is also open daily 9:30 am – 3 pm. Come and rest. Come and be. No fuss. No judgement. If you’d like to speak with Mother Helen, or if you need prayer, please get in touch to arrange an informal meeting.

Life Events

Called to walk together in community, to rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep, we look forward to sharing in your life events.  We are here for you.  Please get in touch with Revd Helen Harknett for thanksgivings, baptisms, confirmations, weddings, and funerals.

Come you who have much faith and you who have none.

You who have been often and you who have never been at all.

You who have tried to follow and you who think you have failed.

Come, not because we invite you, but because Jesus does.

It is his will that those who want him will meet him here.
